Can someone take over my phone contract from nextel and switch to their old number?

My mom’s contract is up and i dont want mine anymore. can she take over my contract and switch it to her number? The serivce is nextel.

not too sure.. i do know that you can take your number to another company and keep your same number my sis did that.. as for someone taking over your contract and using a diff already used number i have no idea.
